Expected results from the utilization distribution (UD) approach if it was able to consistently identify male-female interaction events (MFIEs). Subfigure A demonstrates the scenario in which MFIEs were in high-use areas (small UD volumes) and subfigure B is the scenario in which MFIEs were in low-use areas or outside of core areas (large UD volumes). The inset shows an example UD with locations in high-use (A) and low-use areas (B)
