Bathymetry from ECMWF ETOPO1 Elevation, Daytime SST and Chlorophyll a from MODIS Ocean Aqua OceanColor (4 km, 8 day mean), wind from ECMWF Interim Full Daily SFC Wind (10 m above Ground), wind speed was calculated from the square root of the sums of squares of the V and U component. Kruskal-Wallis ANOVAs were carried out for each parameter, to test for differences among the groups. All parameters differed (χ2 > 17.9, df = 5, p < 0.003), and similar superscript letters denote homogenous subsets
